There’s no overlap but GCED buils on the security skills measured by GSEC. It enable candidates to assess more advance and obtain technical skills that are needed to defend the enterprise environment and protect a company as a whole. Skills, knowledge and abilities assessed are taken from the areas of Defensive Network Infrastructure, Packet Analysis, Penetration Testing, Incident Handling, and Malware Removal.
Candidates are required to demonstrate an understanding of information security beyond simple terminology and concepts. As of October 6, 2017, there are 2,237 Certified Enterprise Defenders.
