Our 2015 Recommended CEH Training Books

Our blog post yesterday listed our favorite six CISSP books. We mentioned in yesterday’s post how important it is to have solid, concise and well-written reading matter and materials when it comes to learning the course syllabus, and now that 24 hours has passed since we wrote that previous post, we couldn’t agree anymore! In fact – when studying for a Cyber Security Certification it is particularly important to have well written and factual ‘easy-to-understand’ content since the subject-matter is so technical.

Just like our CISSP Book post yesterday, this blog post outlines our six preferred CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) Training Books! A lot of students seem to prefer these books in a PDF Format but our list will only list printed or Kindle formats, however, please note that certain Cyber Security publishers like Syngress Elsevier do actually provide digital downloads.

If you don’t have that much time then we suggest that you jump in and compare all our suggested CEH Training Books ‘side-by-side’. Comparing the books is certainly a ‘faster’ way to view the prices. If you have read any of these books we’d really appreciate it if you could drop a comment below.

We hope that this post helps you choose training books that make you pass your CEH exam first time! All the CEH books listed below are to help students with the latest exam version, i.e. version 8.

Here are our recommended CEH Training Books for 2015

CEH Certified Ethical Hacker Bundle, Second Edition (All-in-One)

4.0 Star Rating from Amazon!
By: Matt Walker
The author, Matt Walker, has been a Cyber Security Professional for a very long time and as a result, his experience is highly valued. This book is very well written and has been a popular amongst CEH students for several years now. This latest version is fully revised for the v8 exam objectives. This ‘book’ is actually a lot more that ‘just a book’ since it includes a total of two books, online content, and a bonus quick review guide. We like this book, and in fact we recommended it to all our CEH students.

CEH: Certified Ethical Hacker Version 8 Study Guide

4.0 Star Rating from Amazon!
By: Sean-Philip Oriyano
Written by another seasoned Cyber Pro, we’d certainly recommend ‘CEH: Certified Ethical Hacker Version 8 Study Guide’. This book contains a lot more than just printed paper: in fact, it contains:

  • Chapter review questions
  • Full-length practice exams
  • Hundreds of electronic flashcards
  • Glossary of key terms

One of the reasons we like this book is because Sean-Philip weaves ‘real-world’ scenarios into the content and places the reader in cybersecurity job roles. Each chapter of this CEH Book contains review questions at the end which is always a nice touch since it allows the student to test themselves to see how much they have taken in. If you have read this book please leave a comment or review below – we’d love to add more information about this book because it is really one of our favorites.

CEH: Official Certified Ethical Hacker Review Guide: Exam 312-50

4.0 Star Rating from Amazon!
By: Kimberly Graves
As you’d expect, Kimberly is a very knowledgeable lady with tons of Cyber Experience and her book certainly reflects this. An interesting thing about this particular CEH training book is that it is the only review guide that is officially endorsed by EC-Council. This study book which we insisted be part of our ‘2015 Recommended CEH Study Books’, covers all of the exam objectives and also ships with a CD containing a bunch of study tools. Here’s an overview of this book – which is actually more than that since it ships with a whole bunch of other useful tools:

  • Includes an ‘easy-to-use book’ that is organized by exam objectives (domains) for quick review
  • Review guide that accompanies the book
  • Each chapter contains an “Exam Essentials” section that summarizes the learning
  • There are also more than 300 review questions and practice tools!

Certified Ethical Hacker 8 Last Minute Guide: CEH v8 MCQ

5.0 Star Rating from Amazon!
Although we are not too sure who the author is, LMG, (the author) seems to have published a lot of IT/ Tech publications which seem to have been very well received. Another reason why we’ve included this item in our list is because it is the only Kindle Title we’ve listed – and we thought that many of you would prefer that format.

Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) Cert Guide

5.0 Star Rating from Amazon!
By: Michael Gregg
Our 2015 recommended CISSP Study Books that we recently posted also includes a publication by Michael Gregg; and we recommend this title just as much as we did his CISSP Book.

What we particularly liked about this book is that it ships with a complete test preparation routine that is organized ‘well-thought-out’ techniques. Exam topics within the book make referencing simple and the chapter-ending ‘Exam Preparation Tasks’, as they are referred to, help the student to drill into key concepts of the CEHv8 Syllabus.

This purchase also includes an accompanying CD that contains the Pearson IT Certification Practice Test engine; something which many students talk highly about. If you had to force yourself to buy one CEH Book, then likely this would be the best one in our opinion.

CEH Certified Ethical Hacker Practice Exams, Second Edition (All-in-One)

4.5 Star Rating from Amazon!
By: Matt Walker
Yes – you are not seeing double – this is another book by Matt Walker in our list. The main difference here is that this book is only that, i.e. just the book. The reference to the first Matt Walker book contains other materials that are shipped with the book. This particular title has been around for a while but, and like the rest of the other titles, has been fully updated for the CEH v8 exam objectives and domains.

This book also contains over 600 real-life practice exam questions and answers that will allow you to feel more confident prior to taking the final exam.
