We are constantly on the look out for ways to help our community when it comes to studying for their cybersecurity certifications, and in this post we take a look at mobile apps (for iOS and Android) that are designed to help you with three popular cyber certs: Certified Ethical Hacker, CISSP and Security+
Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) Mobile Learning Apps (iOS and Android)
CEH, offered by EC-Council, is one of the most popular cybersecurity penetration testing certs on the market. There are plenty of ways to study CEH (for more information on studying and pricing please click here) and mobile apps are an ‘extra’ resource that have helped many of our students.
To view our recommended three CEH Mobile Learning Apps please follow this link (which takes you to our CEH Resources Page). The three CEH iOS and Android Learning Apps we recommend are:
CEH Mobile App: ‘CEH V8: Certified Ethical Hacking’ (iOS)
We haven’t had time to test this app, but suffice to say that it seems pretty decent. If you do try it – let us know! Here are the features: 750+ unique practice questions that are based on the 2015 Syllabus (v8), detailed answer explanations and also a test-taking strategy guide. CEH Mobile App: ‘Exam Prep’ (iOS)
This App (our link takes you to the iOS version) contains a ton of useful CEH Resource to use on the move, including: Pre-Assessment Test, 350 Practice Questions with Full Explanations, Interactive Quizzes, Test History and Performance Review – which according to the publisher and author is continuously updated. CEH Mobile App: ‘Pocket Prep’ (Android)
This App (available on Android and iOS) contains two different practice modes: Simulation and Study. The app contains automatic test saving and retrieval, detailed historic results analysis, optimized for phones & tablets. CISSP Mobile Learning Apps (iOS and Android)
CISSP, offered by ISC2, is considered by many as being the ‘gold standard’ of cybersecurity certifications. Every time we mention the words ‘CISSP’ and ‘gold standard’ we always end up getting a ton of ‘for’ or ‘against’ comments and for those interested in that discussion please hit up our poll titled: “Are IT Security Certifications Worth It?”. Over 300+ people have voted so please add your vote and comment regarding whether or not certain cyber certs are worth it!
For those that are interested in CISSP we do offer a very affordable self-study option which includes a free trial (valid as of July 2015 and subject to change to go ahead and check out the offer before it’s too late!)
OK, so back to our recommended CISSP Learning Mobile apps (for iOS and Android), they are:

We’ve identified two Security+ Learning Apps that we think you’ll most likely benefit from. They are:
CompTIA Security+ SY0-401 Exam Prep (Android and iOS)
This app (available in either platform) is contains Practice Questions and Flashcards written by Darrill Gibson, author of top selling CompTIA certification prep books. Darrill Gibson has written several best-selling Security+ Study Books.
CompTIA Training App (Android)
This app contains flash cards and Security+ questions with answers. There are several positive reviews.
If you are on the move and studying Security+, CISSP or CEH, then obviously having learning apps on your phone is a no-brainer.
The bottom line is this: everything helps! Having an app on your phone obviously allows you to test yourself whilst you are waiting for the bus etc. Maximizing study time is always on a student’s mind before they embark on getting certified, and having an app certainly helps.
