We cover a lot of IT security conferences here at Concise Courses (here’s our comprehensive list of worldwide events for 2014, 2015), and 2016 but every now and again we come across one that deserves special recognition, and this is one: Hak4Kidz
Summary of Hak4Kidz
Hak4Kidz is an event by ethical hackers and Information Security professionals dedicated to bring the educational and communal benefits of hacking conferences to children and young adults. This event will be taking place August 23rd in Chicago at TechNexus located inside the Chicago Civic Opera Center building.
Their plan is to put the organizers collective expertise and passion on display for the attendees to interact with them at their will.
In the words of the organizers:
A combination of youth base speaking tracks complementing an open area of stations will enable the attendees to expand and enlighten their technical interests. For innovation to perpetuate, it’s imperative that today’s young users are exposed to the bigger picture of how we got here and to help realize their potential.
Hak4Kidz operates under the legal banner of SecureChicago. SecureChicago an established organization dedicated to the Information Security community of Chicago. The purpose of SecureChicago is to:
SecureChicago is the entity that organizes great events such as BSidesChicago. Several experienced volunteers from BSidesChicago will be volunteering with the Hak4Kidz conference.
Who is Hak4Kidz aimed at?
Young people going into 3rd grade onwards. The anticipated attendance will be between 75-100 with almost as many Information Technology and/or Information Security professionals.
This event will be awesome. If you are in the Chicago area, work in security, and have kids – then simply you have no excuse not to attend! Also of course – if your kids are expressing even the slightest interest in IT, tech and security/ hacking – then come on down.
The folks that organize this event are super friendly and you will have a great day out.
