This Thursday is the ISC2 SecureMiami 2013 conference being held in, well Miami – as the name suggests!

We hail from Miami so we are delighted to spread the word about this event. If you are in Florida then get yourself down to Miami.

The title of the event is: “The Business Model for Security – Competitive Compliance v2.0” and will start at 9:00 a.m.

ISC2 sent a press release with an overview of the session: which will address how best to define and track key information security and compliance indicators. Speakers will discuss how an organization can better audit their security position within a compliance perspective.

This is an area which is of particular interest to ISC2. We recently reported how ISC2 and HITRUST are launching a new IT Information Security Healthcare certification which is designed to assist the healthcare industry plug their security holes.

ISC2 say that the conference will specifically instruct attendees how to use a particular business model to better manage their security programs. They also say that they will explore processes for developing and maintaining value within a security perspective and how that can be leveraged to add further value to develop competitive advantage.

If you are interested in this conference but can’t attend it – then our recent Hacker Hotshot talk might also be of value to you. Brian Martin discussed the “Secrets of Running a Consulting Business” (recorded video, Google Hangout). Brian will be discussing the things needed to spin up a viable consulting business, from concepts to funding to growth.
